Jakarta:“No. It is clearly stated in the 1945 Constitution, that in the presidential system, only if the president commits a coup d’état, nepotism bribery, or crime, can he be impeached,” said presidential spokesperson Andi Alfian Mallarangeng at the State Palace, on Wednesday (25/6)
Therefore, continued Andi, the Right of Inquiry approved by DPR was not related to impeachment, unless the 1945 Constitution were to be amended.
Yesterday DPR’s plenary session approved the implementation of the Right of Inquiry to investigate the government’s decision to increase fuel prices and this approval was made through open voting.
The Government, Andi continued, would prepare their best answers.
But it has not yet been decided whether or not the President would go to the DPR.
“We must wait for a letter,” said Andi.
