Jakarta: Indonesian police headquarters brought two terrorist suspects from South Sumatera to Jakarta. “They are to be examined here,” said the police public relations offiicer Abubakar Nataprawira, at his office yesterday.
Two days ago, a member from the special anti-terrorism detachment 88 team at the regional police office in South Sumatera arrested two suspects in a terrorism issue. They are Fauzi, 23; and Wahyu, 32. Both of them were arrested at Jalan Dwikora II, Dua Puluh Ilir village, West Ilir sub-district, Palembang, South Sumatera, at 3:20pm.
Abubakar said the police does not know the network where the suspects work, or whether they are included in Noor Din M.Top’s network or not. The police are unsure about their relation to the Poso case. “We will figure it out during the examination,” he said. Abubakar cannot mention the possibility of another suspect involved in this terrorism case. If there is one, the police will not announce it. “He can run away then,” he said.
In Palembang, the police examined the location where the two suspects were arrested. During the examination, the police set up a police line that was 100-meters away from the location.
Meanwhile, head of the regional police office for South Sumatera, Ito Sumardi, asked people in South Sumatera to be aware of their surroundings as terrorists can hide anywhere.
