Jakarta:Previously, the government was determined to limit subsidized fuel usage by the use of smart cards. The cards, containing consumption and owner data, would be attached to vehicles. The project was supposed to have been first tested in Bali and Batam this month.
Purnomo said that the smart cards ideas were being cancelled due to financial problems and finding the right locations. “We would need to apply it in remote areas to prevent negative excesses,” he said.
The government had allocated Rp 300 billion for this project.
