Jakarta:“Why did the prosecutor not wait for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)? The time difference of Urip and Artalyta’s arrest was only two hours,” Judge Andi Bachtiar asked M Salim, a former Investigation Director from the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) yesterday (24/6).

Salim was a witness at the trial of Artalyta in Jakarta yesterday.

According to Andi, based on Article 19 of the Criminal Code, an arrest can only be made within 24 hours of an investigation.

Responding to the question, Salim stated that Artalyta’s arrest mechanism had a legal basis, namely the Prosecution State Decree.

“The Constitutional Court must participate in investigating corruption crimes,” he said.

Salim also described Artalyta’s arrest plan, which, according to him, was at the order of Junior Attorney General Wisnu Subroto.

However, according to Salim, AGO leaders including Attorney General Hendarman Supandji had known about the plan.
