Los Angeles (ANTARA News) - Pop diva Mariah Carey has broken her silence over her sudden marriage to Nick Cannon, confirming she tied the knot with the rapper-actor last week, People magazine reported Wednesday.

News of Carey's nuptials last week following a whirlwind two-month romance was shrouded in mystery after representatives for the couple did not comment.

However, in excerpts of an exclusive interview published on People's website, Carey confirmed she had wed for a second time on April 30.

"We really do feel we are soulmates," Carey, 39, was quoted by AFP as telling People. "I never felt a love like this was in the cards for me."

Carey has sold around 160 million albums worldwide during a nearly two-decade long recording career.

Last month she dethroned Elvis Presley after passing the King of Rock 'n' Roll's total number of US chart-toppers with her 18th No.1 hit. Only The Beatles, with 20 No.1's, have scored more.

Carey, who was previously married to record label executive Tommy Mottola from 1993 to 1998, is the third best-selling female artist of all time, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. (*)
