Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Uber Cup team easily waltzed into the final round for the first time since they ended up as runner-up in 1998, after beating their German opponents 3-1 in the semi-finals on Thursday.

"This is an extraordinary achievement of our girls after even earlier passing the qualification rounds was difficult," manager of the Indonesian Uber Cup team Susy Susanti said after the match.

Two years ago the Indonesian women`s team also failed in passing the final round in Japan after failing in the qualification rounds.

Indonesia`s first singles Maria Kristin caused some tension on the part of the Indonesian team after eventually bowing to Germany`s Xu Huaiwen in straight sets 20-22, 15-1, but second singles Adriyanti Firdasari equalled the score after beating Julianne Schenk also in straight sets 21-16, 22-20.

Doubles Jo Novita and Greysia Polii led the Indonesian team 2-1 after easily conquering Birgit Overzier and Kathrin Piotrowski 21-9, 21-13.

Indonesia`s third singles Pia Zebadiah was decisive to Indonesia entering the final rounds after trounching Karin Schaase 21-7, 21-16 bringing the score with the German team to 3-1.
